In today’s video, Saints Discussions explains why the Who Dat Nation needs to be grateful that the team is 3-1 without quarterback Drew Brees under center. Backup QB Teddy Bridgewater has done an exceptional job stepping in for the future Hall of Famer. However, there are Saints fans on social media outlets, message boards, and callers of radio shows that are not satisfied with the team’s performance.
Saints fans need to realize that it could have been a lot worse than what it is right now. In previous seasons, we have seen teams such as the Green Bay Packers lose Aaron Rodgers for a significant portion of the season due to injury. As a result of that, the team could never recover without the presence of Rodgers under center.
In regards to the Saints, that has not been the case. Their defense is playing on another level right now, and has gotten the attention of the entire league right now. Even though Bridgewater made some questionable decisions in last week’s game against the Cowboys, the defense was able to catapult this team to victory.
The Saint’s next opponent is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a ball club that put up 54 points on the hated Los Angeles Rams in Week 4. The matchup against the Bucs will tell us all about how Bridgewater will progress during his tenure as the team’s starting quarterback.
For the moment, let’s be thankful that this ball club is in the position that it is in right now. They are in 1st place in the NFC South and at least ranked no.3 in various power rankings around the National Football League. If we continue to witness the type of performances by the defense, the Saints could be on a path to a historic run in 2019.
