NFL mock draft articles do not end; they only continue. After the draft’s conclusion for the particular year, publications immediately start evaluating the next season’s class and where the prospects could land. As you may have noticed by now, buzz’s been brewing about how stacked next year’s QB class will be, featuring players such as Caleb Williams and Drake Maye. In a recent mock draft published by Pro Football Network, the outlet mocked Georgia tight end Brock Bowers to the New Orleans Saints.
“Perhaps the best offensive player in the entire country, Brock Bowers is a mismatch waiting to happen in the NFL. Bowers has elite speed for such a big man and has a George Kittle-esque ability after hauling in receptions. What separates Bowers from recent “good tight ends” is the fact that he’s more than capable as a blocker in all facets as well.”
Here’s the reality of the Saints taking Brock Bowers in next year’s draft. They would have to give up the king’s ransom with draft picks to take the All-American tight end out of Georgia. I find it hard to believe that Bowers stock would plummet to 21, where Pro Football Network projects the Saints to be placed in 2024. It would have to take a career-threatening injury or an off-the-field transgression that would scare teams picking in the top ten of the draft away from selecting the Georgia tight end.
However, to even fathom Browers in a Saints uniform is worth pondering. Can you imagine an offense that featured Derek Carr throwing the football to Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed, Michael Thomas, Kendre Miller, Jamaal Williams, Alvin Kamara, Juwan Johnson, and Brock Bowers? It would be an offense that would present mismatches all over the field. But as previously stated, it would be difficult for the Saints to select an all-world talent like Browers with a draft pick in the 20s. As of now, tight end is not one of the Saints’ most significant needs going into next year’s draft, but they have been known to make moves that would allow them to pick higher if the opportunity presents itself.
