Saints versus Seahawks Week 3 Recap
After coming off a disappointing loss against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 2, the Saints were able to weather the storm of a brutal west coast stretch. They were able to go 1-1 during their trip to the west coast after defeating the Seattle Seahawks 33-27.
The Saints dominated for the majority of the football game, but their defense was able to force stops at very crucial times. Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater had an exceptional performance in yesterday’s game by throwing for 177 yards and two touchdown passes.
He quietly silenced those doubters that were stating that the Saints were done after the injury suffered by Drew Brees in Week 2. However, he was assisted by the outstanding performance of running back Alvin Kamara. Against the Seahawks, Kamara rushed for 69 yards on 16 carries. He also caught nine passes for 92 yards and one touchdown score.
All together, Alvin Kamara had a total of 161 all-purpose yards in yesterday’s victory over the Seahawks. You heard it throughout the week from various Saints football analysts that Sean Payton was going to create a game plan that was tailored around the skill sets of Teddy Bridgewater. Yesterday we saw what Payton’s game plan would look like against an opposing defense.
It was not perfect, but it will get better as the season progresses with Bridgewater under center. He took more chances throwing the football compared to what we saw in the matchup against the Rams last week. In regards to the defense, they portrayed a bend but didn’t break mentality as always.
They were able to force a critical turnover that changed the entire outlook of the football game. Safety Vonn Bell returned a fumble caused by the Saints defense for a touchdown that would allow the team to go up by 13-7 early in the second quarter. From that turnover going forward, the defense was able to contain Russell Wilson along with his receiving core throughout the football game.
Now that the Saints have gotten through a portion of their rough 16-game schedule, they can focus on getting more accustomed to having Teddy Bridgewater as their starting quarterback. From the looks of it, a few of the Saints future opponents look very beatable going forward. Their next game will be a showdown on Sunday Night Football against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 4. It’s going to be interesting to see what Sean Payton’s plan of attack will be against a red-hot Cowboys offense. This is your Saints versus Seahawks week 3 recap.
